HEALTH AND CARE
The health of our cats is an essential point for our cattery and we try to be irreproachable at this level. This implies a good diet, regular medical monitoring and carrying out hygiene care according to our health protocol.
Our cats are our companions. They live with us every day. As a result, we are attentive to the slightest sign suggesting a dysfunction affecting their health (loss of form, lack of appetite, digestive disorders, etc.).
According to the recommendations of the Official Book of Feline Origins (LOOF), our breeding Maine Coons are DNA tested for HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy), PKDef (pyruvate kinase deficiency) and SMA (spinal muscular atrophy).
In addition, once a year we perform a cardiac ultrasound check-up for screening for HCM (complementary to the initial DNA test) and a kidney check-up for screening for PKD (polycystic kidney disease).
We check for each cat " entrant " within the cattery that it is free from all these known genetic diseases of the breed.
Genetic identification and blood type determination are also done.
In addition, our breeders are screened for hip dysplasia by radiography a first time before their first mating and a second time at the end of growth.
Finally, our cats are followed very regularly by our veterinary clinic bringing together several specialists in different fields.
